The Advisory and Regulatory Committee for the GCC Electrical Interconnection held its 68th

meeting in the State of Kuwait, chaired by the State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of

Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. The meeting was chaired by Eng. Faisal Sumait,

Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Electrical Transmission Networks.

During the meeting, the Committee discussed a number of items on its agenda, foremost

among them a review of the performance and activities of the GCC electrical interconnection

and the support it provides to the power grids of the GCC member states. This contributes to

enhancing the reliability and stability of the GCC power system and strengthening integration

among the electricity networks of the member states.

The meeting also reviewed the most notable operational events affecting the electrical

interconnection system and the measures taken to ensure continuity of service during the

summer period and amid the exceptional circumstances currently affecting the region. In

addition, the Committee discussed a number of technical and operational matters related to

electrical interconnection activities among the GCC member states.

The meeting forms part of the ongoing coordination and cooperation among GCC member

states in the electricity sector, aimed at enhancing the readiness of the GCC electrical

interconnection system and improving its operational efficiency, thereby supporting the security

and sustainability of electricity supplies across the GCC member states.
