06-07-2026 Meeting of the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, with the Electricity and Water Emergency Teams to Review Performance Indicators.

The Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, chaired a meeting to review the performance indicators of the Electricity and Water Emergency Teams for June 2026. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister, Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamil, along with representatives from the relevant sectors. During the meeting, the results of emergency report handling, response rates, and corrective actions were reviewed and compared with the same period in 2025.

The statistics showed a marked improvement in the procedures for handling electricity and water emergency reports during June 2026, reflecting the efficiency of the emergency teams and the increased readiness of field response centers. This comes as part of the Ministry’s efforts to enhance service reliability and improve the quality of services provided to citizens and residents.

The performance indicators showed a 69.32% improvement in response time for electricity emergency repairs. Meanwhile, water emergency indicators recorded a 61.33% improvement in response time, reflecting significant progress in the efficiency of handling reports and the performance of field teams. These improvements contribute to ensuring service continuity and minimizing the duration of service interruptions for customers.

The Ministry emphasized that these results are the outcome of continuous institutional efforts to improve the efficiency of the emergency response system in the electricity and water sectors. These efforts include strengthening technical teams, developing mechanisms for receiving and distributing reports, and accelerating the deployment of field teams to fault locations, thereby ensuring prompt handling of reports and the efficient restoration of services.

Statistics also showed notable improvements in response rates at several electricity emergency centers, including City Center (89.76%), Al-Wafra Center (82.61%), and Al-Ahmadi Center (75.17%). These results confirm enhanced operational readiness and the effective integration of efforts among emergency response teams across the various governorates. As part of its efforts to enhance network reliability and reduce outages, the Ministry implemented a series of technical measures across the transmission and distribution networks.

These included replacing 950 transformers in the Northern Region, carrying out major maintenance on overhead transmission lines, trimming trees that were touching or running parallel to power lines, treating soil to improve the efficiency of protection systems, intensifying maintenance and field inspections, and using thermal imaging cameras to detect critical hot spots. In addition, 36 Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs) were installed on 33 kV power lines, and diesel generators were deployed to reduce network loads.

The Ministry stressed that reducing the time required to process emergency reports is not merely a statistical figure; rather, it is a direct indicator of service quality, response speed, and the effectiveness of operational plans, particularly during the summer season, which witnesses increased demand for electricity and water.

The Ministry also reaffirmed its commitment to continuously developing the emergency response system, improving the efficiency of field operations, and utilizing operational data and performance indicators to support rapid decision-making. These efforts are aligned with the State’s aspirations to enhance the quality of services and ensure the sustainable, efficient, and reliable supply of electricity and water.
