The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy announces that, as a result of the brutal aggression against the State of Kuwait, one of the country’s power generation and water desalination plants was subjected to an attack, causing damage to the plant’s facilities and the temporary shutdown of a number of electricity generation units. This necessitated the activation of emergency response plans and the implementation of immediate technical measures to contain the impact and preserve the stability of the national power system.

The Ministry affirmed that the Civil Defense and Fire Force teams responded promptly and successfully brought the fire under control and extinguished it. Emergency teams affiliated with the Ministry immediately coordinated with the relevant authorities, while technical and administrative procedures were initiated to assess the extent of the damage, secure the facility, and restore the affected units to service as quickly as possible, in full compliance with the highest safety standards.

The Ministry further confirmed that its technical teams continue to work around the clock to maintain the stability of the electricity network and ensure the uninterrupted delivery of services. Continuous monitoring of the power system is being carried out, alongside the implementation of all necessary precautionary measures to prevent any impact on the network.

The Ministry also calls upon citizens and residents to cooperate during this exceptional period by rationalizing electricity consumption, as such cooperation contributes to sustaining the efficiency of the national power system, safeguarding the continuity of electricity services across the country, and supporting the national response efforts. The Ministry expressed its appreciation for the public’s awareness and cooperation during these circumstances, noting that responsible consumption by all users enhances the resilience of the electricity system and enables maintenance teams to complete repair works more swiftly and efficiently.
