The national water conservation campaign “Qatret Watan” (A Drop for the Nation), under the slogan “We Save It for Our Nation,” was launched at the initiative of the Kuwait Water for Life Association, in partnership with the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. The
launch was held under the patronage of H.E. Minister Dr. Sobeeh Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizim, in the presence of Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Monitoring, Control and Supervision Centers, Eng. Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat.
In his speech, delivered on his behalf by Eng. Fatima Jawhar Hayat, Dr. Al-Mukhaizim emphasized that promoting the rational use of water is a key element in strengthening water security, alongside developing production facilities, transmission and distribution networks, and
improving operational efficiency. He also stressed the importance of partnership between the Ministry and civil society organizations in preserving water resources.
He noted that the ease with which customers access water is made possible by continuous investments and sustained efforts, supported by an integrated system operating around the clock. This highlights the need to raise awareness of the value of water, appreciate the national
efforts made to ensure its availability, and reduce wastage. He explained that water conservation helps reduce demand for water production, lower the associated energy consumption, and minimize the resulting environmental impacts. He stressed that responsible consumption practices support the sustainability of services and safeguard future generations’ right to safe and sustainable resources.
He further noted that the “Qatret Watan” campaign reflects the role of public benefit associations in supporting national efforts and expanding community participation in water conservation by translating awareness messages into everyday practices. These include monitoring consumption, repairing leaks, maintaining plumbing systems, and using water-saving devices.
He affirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting meaningful initiatives, particularly those aimed at promoting a culture of conservation and aligning their efforts with the national energy and water conservation campaign, “Waffir” (Conserve). He pointed out that lasting awareness is achieved when water conservation becomes an established practice at home, at school, and in the workplace.
He added that the slogan “We Save It for Our Nation” combines gratitude to Almighty God for the blessing of water, a sense of national belonging, and responsibility toward future generations. He also expressed his appreciation to the Kuwait Water for Life Association, headed by Dr. Najeeb Othman Al-Othman, as well as to the campaign organizers, partners, and supporters.
The event program included a speech by the Association’s Director General, Dr. Najeeb AlOthman, followed by a video presentation highlighting the Association’s efforts to provide drinking water in Kuwait and abroad. The campaign’s key themes, implementation phases, and awareness programs targeting various segments of society were also presented. Participating and supporting entities were honored at the event.
