Eng. Fatima Abbas Jawhar Hayat, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, announced that starting October 1, 2026, the Ministry will begin implementing routine maintenance work on the electrical networks. This includes components of both the transmission and distribution networks, ranging from main substations, overhead lines, and underground cables, to secondary substations. This step comes as part of the Ministry’s annual plan aimed at enhancing the efficiency and readiness of the electrical system for the summer season, while minimizing emergency outages to the lowest possible level.
She explained that some of these works may require temporary power disconnections in parts of specific areas according to time schedules that will be announced via the Ministry’s official social media accounts, noting that the work will follow an organized program to ensure swift task completion. She also confirmed that the Ministry will send notifications to affected customers via the unified government application “Sahel,” based on data registered with the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI). Additionally, a direct link will be provided on the Ministry’s official social media accounts to allow users to track the status and stages of maintenance, both at the start and completion of the works.
Eng. Fatima Jawhar Hayat concluded by emphasizing that these efforts are part of the Ministry’s ongoing plan to improve the quality of services provided, while expressing her gratitude to citizens and residents for their cooperation and understanding of the importance of these maintenance works.
