The dialogue session dealt with discussing the national priorities of the State of Kuwait in the field of developing renewable energy sources and the uses of hydrogen. The agreement concluded with the government of the People's Republic of China was reviewed, specifically regarding the Chinese company (SAIC) to develop the Al-Shuqaya and Al-Abdaliyah Renewable Energy projects, which aim to produce electrical energy with a total capacity of more than 3,000 megawatts.
In this context, the Undersecretary indicated that the targeted production capacity by 2029 will reach 4,800 megawatts by employing multiple technologies for renewable energy systems.
Dr. Al-Zamil stressed that the process of transformation in the field of energy must align with the welfare requirements and economic development for countries in the region, without affecting their legitimate interests. He explained that one of the most promising opportunities in this context lies in developing green and blue hydrogen industries, through the optimal exploitation of the renewable energy sources available in the region's countries, along with hydrocarbon resources.
He also emphasized the importance of benefiting from the experiences of neighboring countries and exchanging knowledge, as it is an essential element in the success of any project in the energy sector, especially in light of the regional similarities in policies, climatic conditions, and living standards.
Dr. Adel Al-Zamil concluded his participation by emphasizing the need to enhance investment in renewable energy projects because of their pivotal role in achieving a sustainable and comprehensive future for future generations.
