His Excellency the Minister of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhizeem, accompanied by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Adel Mohammed Al-Zamel, visited Al-Zour South Power and Water Distillation Plant to review the situation on the ground following the recent incident. The visit aimed to assess the progress of response and emergency operations and to receive updates on the precautionary measures implemented to contain the repercussions of the incident, thereby ensuring the continued stability of Kuwait’s electricity and water systems.
During the visit, the Minister received a comprehensive briefing from the officials on the nature of the damage and the emergency measures undertaken from the earliest moments of the incident. The briefing highlighted the implementation of emergency response plans and urgent maintenance works to restore the affected units to operation in accordance with the highest standards of efficiency and safety.
The Minister also commended the dedicated efforts of the security, safety, firefighting, engineering, and technical teams working on-site, praising their rapid response, professionalism, and commitment. He noted that their tireless efforts around the clock have played a vital role in restoring normal operating conditions as swiftly as possible.
Dr. Al-Mukhizeem affirmed that the Ministry continues to operate at full capacity and is mobilizing all of its technical and human resources, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to ensure the uninterrupted production of electricity and water while minimizing the impact of the incident. He also praised the commitment of all employees and acknowledged their sincere dedication to serving the nation.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency directed that assessment and repair works continue in accordance with the highest standards of quality and safety, while maintaining close field supervision to expedite the pace of work, complete all necessary corrective measures, restore the affected units, and return them to normal operation as soon as possible.
