His Excellency Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, Minister of Finance, and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment, received a high-level delegation from the People's Republic of China headed by His Excellency Mr. Zhang Jianqiang, First Deputy Governor of Shanghai Province.

With the participation of Mr. Tamim Haybin, Deputy Chairman of the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC), in the presence of Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamil, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, Ambassador Samih Issa Jowhar Hayat, and a number of ministry leaders.

In his speech, His Excellency Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem emphasized that the meeting was an extension of His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to Beijing in 2023 and the resulting broad cooperation agenda with President Xi Jinping. He explained that bilateral relations had seen significant progress, most notably the signing of technical arrangements agreements (March 2025) and a framework for joint project development with SPIC and the General Investment Authority (July 2025).

His Excellency pointed out that the Shagaya and Abdaliya projects are key pillars of Kuwait's clean energy strategy, emphasizing Kuwait's welcome of Chinese investment and expertise and its aspiration for mutual cooperation in several areas.

In conclusion, the minister expressed Kuwait's appreciation to the Chinese delegation and Ambassador Hayat, stressing that the visit would contribute to strengthening friendship and enhancing the strategic partnership between the two countries.
