The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy's spokesperson, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jawhar, said that a workshop was organized by the Gulf Energy Committee on renewable energy, with the participation of a group of experts and representatives from the GCC countries.
She explained that the head of the committee, Engineer Ahmed Al Dosari, opened the workshop with a speech in which he welcomed the delegations. He emphasized the importance of Gulf cooperation in supporting the path of clean energy projects. The GCC Secretariat's speech also emphasized the need to continue joint efforts to achieve energy security and diversify energy sources.
She added that the workshop discussed a number of key topics, including renewable energy certificates, mechanisms for developing and implementing projects and ensuring their stability, in addition to studying the connection of renewable energy capacities to electricity grids, and discussing strategies and regulatory frameworks for storage projects.
She emphasized the participation of prestigious international institutions, such as the World Bank and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). The GCC countries are also looking to expand the use of renewable energy.
The spokesperson concluded her statement by noting that during the workshop, GCC delegations reviewed their current experiences and projects, as well as future challenges, emphasizing that integration and joint cooperation are key pillars for achieving sustainable development and transitioning to a green economy.
