02-03-2026 Statement Regarding a Minor Fire at the Doha West Power and Water Distillation Plant

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Eng. Fatima Abbas Jowhar Hayat, stated that during an operation to intercept a drone, debris from the interception struck one of the fuel tanks at the Doha West Power and Water Distillation Plant, resulting in a minor fire.

She explained that the station’s security and safety teams responded immediately in accordance with approved emergency procedures and plans. The fire was swiftly contained and brought under control, and technical teams are currently conducting inspections and assessments to ensure the safety and integrity of all units and equipment.

Hayat confirmed that, thankfully, the incident resulted in no injuries, and that the damage was limited to minor material losses. She added that specialized teams continue to monitor the situation, carry out evaluations, and implement all necessary precautionary measures.

The Ministry reassures citizens and residents that the electricity and water systems across the country are operating normally and efficiently, and that full readiness is maintained to handle any emergency. The Ministry also urges the public to rely on official sources for accurate information.
