03-03-2026 Statement from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy Regarding Transmission Lines in the Southern Region

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Eng. Fatima Abbas Jowhar Hayat, stated that debris resulting from the interception of several drones caused damage to two overhead power transmission lines in the southern region of the country.

Hayat confirmed that, thankfully, the incident did not result in any power outages. Electricity was successfully rerouted through alternative transmission paths in accordance with approved operational plans, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to customers and maintaining the stability of the national grid.

She explained that emergency response teams began their work immediately following the incident and are currently assessing the damage and carrying out the necessary repairs in line with the highest safety standards and approved technical procedures.

Eng. Fatima Hayat further affirmed that the electricity and water sectors remain stable and under full control. She noted that electricity generation, water desalination, and water transmission systems are operating efficiently, with continuous monitoring and supervision around the clock to ensure service reliability and continuity.

The Ministry calls on citizens and residents to exercise caution and to rely on official sources for accurate information. It also affirmed its commitment to keeping the public informed of any developments.
