Engineer Fatima Abbas Juhar Hayat, the official speaker for the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, stated that a small fire broke out in one of the fuel tanks at the Sabiya Power and Water Distillation Plant, causing smoke to rise at the scene of the incident.
She explained that the station’s security, safety and emergency teams responded immediately to the fire in accordance with approved procedures and emergency plans, bringing it under control swiftly and preventing it from spreading to the rest of the station’s facilities.
She confirmed that, thank God, the incident did not result in any injuries, and noted that specialist technical teams are currently carrying out inspections and technical assessments to ensure the safety of the units and equipment.
She added that the electricity and water networks were operating normally and stably, and Hayat confirmed that the situation would continue to be monitored and that the necessary measures would be taken to ensure the stability of the electricity network and the continuity of service.
She expressed the Ministry’s appreciation for the efforts of its national staff; engineers, technicians and site workers, for their hard work and rapid response in dealing with emergencies.
