12-03-2026 Official Statement No. (9) issued by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy regarding the failure of certain overhead power lines

The official speaker for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, Engineer Fatima Abbas Jwhar Hayat, stated that six overhead power lines had been taken out of service in several locations across the country. This was due to debris falling as a result of the interception of a number of drones, which caused a temporary disturbance in the electricity grid and a partial, limited power cut in various parts of the country.

She explained that specialist emergency teams had begun work in coordination with the security authorities to assess the damage and carry out the necessary repairs, and that power had been restored to the affected areas in record time, in accordance with the highest safety standards and approved technical procedures.

Hayat confirmed that the electricity and water situation remains under control, and that the electricity generation, water desalination and distribution systems are operating at high efficiency, with round-the-clock monitoring and follow-up to ensure the stability and continuity of services without interruption.

The Ministry urges citizens and residents to be cautious and to obtain information only from official sources, whilst affirming that it will continue to keep the public informed of any developments as they arise. Asking God Almighty to protect the country and its people, and to preserve the blessings of security, safety and stability in our beloved homeland.
